Welcome I can’t believe that 2007 is here! I have been thinking recently that I am counting the years from two different perceptions. First, I have been retired from the secondary classroom since 2000. I love the idea that bells don’t go off in my head all day long! But now I have to keep a scheduling book and I can’t make a decision without it! I’ve never done that in my life. So, my life is planned to the hilt! Secondly, I think of this portion of my life beginning when I moved to Oklahoma City from Lubbock, Texas. I find that I introduce myself as Susan Masters from Oklahoma City. Maybe I am still convincing myself that I have made this drastic and wonderful move. I do love the place and my new friends! Quilt Guild programs keep me busy and happy! Visiting with the Enid Quilt Guild was such a fabulous experience last year. I stay active in the Central Oklahoma Quilt Guild as well as the Edmond Quilt Guild. I did win a small quilt challenge last year and I do enjoy the competition and the creativity it fosters. One of my absolute favorite guilds is the Ogallala Quilt Guild based in Dimmitt, Texas. I worked with this guild and I still attend the Quilt Festival each year. Teaching quilting is still my favorite activity! I often teach four days a week and just run from shop to shop! What a great life! If you need to contact one of my favorite quilting stores, here are the numbers:
2006 was a great year. I had a quilt in the Off-Grain Textile Art Show at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma gallery. My “Moonstruck Stars” quilt won a blue ribbon in the big show last April. My friend Ruth Harris and I traveled to Arkansas to visit a quilt friend and also to Dallas to experience the great flood during the annual Dallas Quilt Show. I took extensive classes with Paula Nadelstern and Jane Sassaman and others. The newest thing at Texas Prairie Quilts is 4 small seasonal quilt designs. I am working with designer Dawn Andrew and these quilts feature appliqué on the home embroidery machine. Of course there is a boot in each quilt! We expect these to be out early in the spring. I usually close with a weather
report! For Christmas I got a portable TV for when we go to the tornado
shelter (the bathroom, in case you don’t live in Tornado Alley). Maybe
it will be more fun to gather everyone and the cat into the tiny space!
What a great place to live if you like weather! |
